Commercialisation of Intellectual Property

Havelock North Fruit Company, Hastings, NZ

Objective:
To secure the IP rights for a new apple variety and identify a strategy to secure the trademark, Rockit™, to support an international commercialisation strategy.

Outcome:
License agreement negotiated and agreed with the rights to market a new apple variety secured. IP strategy implementated around agreed trademark - Rockit™. Foda also provided appropriate food industry networks and links, as well as support and advice for a wide range of activities throughout the launch phase.

Feasibility Assessment

Zestlife International, Taranaki, NZ

Objective:
To identify the options available for Zestlife to obtain commercial advantage from development of their unique on-farm milking practices. A particular focus was the commercialisation options available to them.

Outcome:
Practical and realistic commercialisation options were provided. Information provided incorporated both the technical and marketing challenges thereby enabling Zestlife to make decisions about their future investments with confidence. The company moved forward with a new focus, opening up the first of a secondary process line, Zestlife Premium Veal meat.

Business Case Development

Industrial Research Ltd, Lower Hutt, NZ

Objective:
To develop a business case to support R&D programmes for conceptual work around skin health and nutraceuticals.

Outcome:
Business case developed in line with organisation requirements with endorsement received from IRL regarding contribution to process. Application made to the Foundation for Research, Science & Technology (FRST) within timelines required. A key benefit was that due to time constraints Foda could hit the ground running and contribute to the process immediately ensuring deadlines were met.
